Richard gets it

It’s too bad that my technical ability is still stuck in 1998, otherwise I would have tried to deliver something of substance to the Barcamp they have planned at the end of the month. That said, I could give a presentation on prediction markets and minority game theory, two things that have been the focus of my research over the past couple years… too bad they’ve reached their enrolment limit of 90 people.
Richard also links to the only other Sacha I know on the internet – she has taken the step to pretty much put her task lists online for the whole world to see. I find this very similar to one of the economists behind the Black-Scholes option pricing model (it was either Fischer Black, or Myron Scholes) that apparently took notes of every single thought he had and punched them into a computer to create a huge searchable database. This was done before Google and Wiki came in-vogue. I kind of see Sacha doing this – if you keep this up for a period of time, say 5 years, what kind of metrics will you be able to derive out of your own work?
That’s one minor objective of this weblog – will my thinking really evolve over time?
EDIT, a few hours later: On the encouragement of Richard, I’ve added myself to the waitlist. I might have an opportunity to embarrass myself in public like the Professor in Futurerama!
Funny thing – I came across the Barcamp registration website when it only had 10 people on the list. Didn’t realize it was such a hip and happening event!
