Where am I?

Attached to the picture on the left is a GPS device that I was holding. I went camping for a couple nights and went on a 32 kilometer (round trip) hike which took the whole day. Elevation gain was about 700-800 meters, but most of that was compressed in a 3 kilometer stretch of the hike.
Anyway, the picture is a description of the end result of where I wanted to hike. It should be pretty easy to locate where I was on a map. For bonus points, can you tell me WHAT I was literally standing on when I took this picture? Yes, it was the ground, but there is something specific I was standing on.
I’m back in Kamloops now, so I get to spend a couple more days doing absolutely nothing (and loving it).
